His creator, Carla Gunn, exercises a deft hand in Amphibian in balancing, on the one hand, the insight into environmental problems that children see much more clearly than adults with, on the other hand, a seductive. Carla Gunn's debut novel, Amphibian, was published in April by Coach House Books. The story chronicles the frustrations of a young boy, Phineas Walsh, who finds himself alone in his anxiety about the state of the environment.
